LEAGUE NAME: PAROCHIAL SENIOR FORMATIVE VOLLEYBALL LEAGUE BASE RULES: TSSAA - NATIONAL FEDERATION OF STATE HIGH SCHOOL ASSOCIATIONS SEASON: MARCH 1ST THROUGH MAY 15. PRACTICE MAY NOT BEGIN BEFORE MARCH 1ST. ELIGIBILITY 1. The 7th-8th grade volleyball league will be divided into two separate divisions - varsity and junior varsity. The following schools will place one team into the varsity league - Christ the King, Holy Rosary, Overbook, St. Ann, St. Bernard, St. Edward, St. Heny, St. Joseph, St. Matthew and St. Rose. Any additional teams that these schools have will be placed into the junior varsity league, along with teams from St. John Vianney and St. Pius. At the end of the year, each team will have its own tournament and trophies. 2. Team rosters must be submitted to the DAD before the first regular season game. Failure to submit may result in forfeiture of the first game. It may also result in suspension of the coach and forfeiture of future games. 3. It is the coach’s responsibility to control fans and/or parents during the games. 4. Each player participating in the Senior Formative League must meet eligibility requirements set forth by the Diocesan Athletic Council. The Senior Formative League will be limited to students in the 7th and 8th grades. No children in K-6 will be eligible to participate in the Senior Formative League. All eligible children in participating schools should be allowed to participate. The Diocesan Athletic Committee admonishes “cutting”, and encourage the participation of all students who wish to play. If a school fields more than one team, the teams would be divided equally. LEAGUE RULES AND REGULATIONS 5. Total weekly practice and game time shall not exceed a maximum of 8 hours. Any practice session shall not exceed 2 hours in length. A game shall count as 1 and 1/2 hours. The maximum number of game sessions and/or practice sessions shall not exceed 4 per week. 6. The league shall provide officials. 7. There is no maximum number of players on the roster. There will be a minimum of 7 players on the roster. 8. A team shall have a minimum of 5 players in order to begin a game or complete a match. If a 6th player is available, then she must participate. 9. A league uniform shall include matching shirts with numbers on front and back. 10. A scoresheet shall be supplied at the scorer’s table by the league. 11. The league shall furnish the game ball. 12. The time period between games of a match shall be no more than three minutes. During warm up between matches, half the time will be devoted to passing in your court and the other half to serving. 13. Each team is allowed one (1) 1-minute time-out per game. An extra time-out is allowed at "game point". 14. A substitute that enters the game for a starting player cannot substitute for any other starting player for the remainder of the game. Starting players cannot substitute for other starting players. Subs can sub for other subs after the initial substitutions. Penalty is immediate correction of the line-up and loss of serve or defense point side out, plus loss of any points earned during the time. Substitution - a player must be ready to enter the game when a coach signals the official with the traveling signal. The substitute must notify the scorer’s table and be recognized by an official. If a player is not recognized and enters the game, the referee will award a side out or point. |
