LEAGUE NAME: PAROCHIAL JUNIOR FORMATIVE VOLLEYBALL LEAGUE (5TH-6TH GRADES) BASE RULES: TSSAA - NATIONAL FEDERATION OF STATE HIGH SCHOOL ASSOCIATIONS SEASON: SEPTEMBER 1 THROUGH OCTOBER 30. PRACTICE MAY NOT BEGIN BEFORE AUGUST 15.. CAMPS, NOT TO EXCEED 5 DAYS, ARE ALLOWED IN THE MONTH OF JUNE. ELIGIBILITY 1. Team rosters must be submitted to the DAD before the first regular season game. Failure to submit may result in forfeiture of the first game. It may also result in suspension of the coach and forfeiture of future games. 2. It is the coach’s responsibility to control fans and/or parents during the games. 3. Each player participating in the Junior Formative League must meet eligibility requirements set forth by the Diocesan Athletic Council. 4. The Junior Formative League will be limited to students in the 4th, 5th, and 6th grades. No children in K-3 will be eligible to participate in the Junior Formative League. All eligible children in participating schools should be allowed to participate. The Diocesan Athletic Committee admonishes “cutting”, and encourage the participation of all students who wish to play. If a school has more than one team, the teams would be divided equally. LEAGUE RULES AND REGULATIONS 5. Total weekly practice and game time shall not exceed a maximum of 8 hours. Any practice session shall not exceed 2 hours in length. A game shall count as 1 and 1/2 hours. The maximum number of game sessions and/or practice sessions shall not exceed 4 per week. 6. There is no maximum number of players on the roster. There will be a minimum of 7 players on the roster. 7. Once league schedules are published, there will be no changes made. 8. If a team does not have 6 players at a game, then an eligible participant will be asked to play. 9. Appropriate uniforms with numbers on the front and back are required. 11. "Rally scoring" will be used. You must win the game by 2 points. The matches will be the best 2 out of 3. The firts two games will be scored to 25, with the third game to 15. Each player will be limited to 3 consecutive serves (must win each point or it is a side out). After the third serve the ball is turned over to the other team with no point awarded. 12. Each team will furnish one adult line judge 13. The time period between games of a match shall be no more than three minutes. This will allow teams time to change benches and determine line-ups. There will not be time for warm-ups. 14. During warm-up between matches, half the time will be devoted to passing in your court and the other half to serving. 15. Each team is allowed one (1) minute time-out per game. 16. No records will be kept, and there will be no tournament held. 17. Serving is allowed behind a 20 foot line designated on the court. This is 10 feet closer than the end line, and each gym is responsible for drawing such a line. 18. Nets will be lowered by 6 inches to 6 feet 10 inches. 18. A “light” volleyball will be used. 19. Each player rotates in at serve or the front line depending on what side of the court you are on and rotates all of the way through the line-up. 20.
