4. ESTABLISHMENT OF LEAGUES AND/OR INTERSCHOLASTIC SPORTS EVENTS AND TOURNAMENTS: Any school or association must have approval of the DAC before sponsoring interscholastic athletic activities in order to coordinate scheduling gym sites, etc.

B. GENERAL ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

1. AGE/GRADE   ELIGIBILITY:  Set forth is a maximum age by grade requirement. This assures the league that each athlete will be competing on a fair level of play. If a player does not meet the requirements set forth, he/she shall have the option to move up to the next level of play.  However, a child in the sixth grade may not move up to the junior high level.

A child may not have reached the stated age level (given below) by September 30 of the current school year in order to participate. For example:

If a student in the eighth grade is to participate in athletics, he/she cannot have turned 15 on or before September 30. If the student turns 15 on or before September 30, he/she is ineligible.

Grade K   7 years

Grade 1 - 8 years

Grade 2   9 years

Grade 3   10 years

Grade 4   11 years

Grade 5   12 years

Grade 6   13 years

Grade 7   14 years

Grade 8   15 years

2. CCD ELIGIBILITY:  CCD students are eligible to participate in approved Diocesan Athletic leagues. The Pastor or his designee will determine:

a. That a student is actively participating in his/her CCD Program for the entire year and is a registered member of a parish.
b. That each CCD student athlete play for one, and only one, Catholic school for any given year.
