DIOCESAN ATHLETIC COUNCIL
CONSTITUTION AND BY LAWS
DIOCESE OF NASHVILLE

TITLE

The name of this committee shall be the Diocesan Athletic Council. It is constituted as a standing committee of the Diocesan School Board, subject to the authority of that board.

PURPOSE

The Diocesan Athletic Council is established for the purpose of developing and maintaining consistent regulations and standards of behavior for all interscholastic sports activities within the Diocesan Interscholastic Athletic Program.

ACCOUNTABILITY

The Council is accountable to the Superintendent of Schools who, acting as the Bishop's representative for school related functions, must ratify all resolutions submitted by the Diocesan Athletic Council. DAC regulations shall not conflict with Diocesan legislation or policy.

MEMBERSHIP

Membership on the Council shall be comprised of one representative appointed by the principal of each participating school and a principal, appointed by the Superintendent of Schools and legal counsel.   The Diocesan Athletic Director, along with the Superintendent of Schools shall be ex officio, nonvoting members. The removal of a member from the Council shall be with the approval of the Superintendent of Schools in consultation with the principal of the member's school and the member. Persons may be appointed to successive terms.

RESPONSIBILITY OF DAC MEMBERS

Should any DAC member become aware of misconduct and/or violations of coaches, parents or fans, he/she must:

1.  Report to the League Commissioner, the DAD and/or Executive Committee.

2.  DAC members must attend regularly scheduled DAC meetings. An unexcused absence of two or more meetings will be cause for dismissal.
