3. PRE SEASON PAPERWORK: It will be the coach's responsibility to:
a. Have parents without medical insurance to complete the secondary insurance application. (These forms may be obtained from your school or the Catholic Schools Office.) See to it that students not having medical coverage would not participate in any athletics, practice or otherwise.
b. Collect the Diocesan Athletic fee for each participant and deliver those monies to the Principal or his/her designated Athletic Director.
c. Steps for submitting roster forms are outlined on page 12.
4. COACH'S TRAINING: It is recommended that each coach become a certified member of the National Youth Sports Coaches Association (NYSCA) and/or certified by Red Cross in First Aid and CPR.
E. SPORTSMAN'S STANDARDS
1. THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE PRINCIPAL: The principal as the administrative head of the school must establish the principles of good sportsmanship in the minds of the entire school family and all those who associate with any of the school's activities. He/she must realize that the type of sportsmanship that is practiced or displayed reflects his/her leadership in the administration of his/her school
The principal should:
a. Practice good sportsmanship at all times.
b. Promote the practice of sportsmanship among the officials, school family and patrons. Be sure that all school constituents are thoroughly aware of his/her desires relative to their sportsmanship.
c. Be sure that all parents thoroughly understand that the school expects of its players and themselves.
d. Be responsible for conduct of the crowd.
2. THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE COACH: The coach is a central figure in the sportsmanship pattern of the school and community. He/she is a leader. In order for good sportsmanship to be the guiding principle in athletics for the team, student body, community and press, the coach must know and practice good sportsmanship at all times.
