LEAGUE NAME: PAROCHIAL FORMATIVE CROSS COUNTRY LEAGUE BASE RULES: TSSAA - NATIONAL FEDERATION OF STATE HIGH SCHOOL ASSOCIATIONS SEASON: AUGUST 1ST THROUGH THE LAST SATURDAY OF OCTOBER. PRACTICE MAY NOT BEGIN BEFORE AUGUST 1ST. CAMPS, NOT TO EXCEED 5 DAYS, ARE ALLOWED IN THE MONTH OF JUNE. ELIGIBILITY 1. Team rosters must be submitted to the DAD before the first regular season game. Failure to submit may result in forfeiture of the first game. It may also result in suspension of the coach and forfeiture of future games. 2. It is the coach’s responsibility to control fans and/or parents during the games. 3. Each player participating in the Formative Cross Country League must meet eligibility requirements set forth by the Diocesan Athletic Council. 4. The Formative Cross Country League will be for all children grades K-8 who meet the eligibility requirements set forth by the Diocesan Athletic Council.. All eligible children in participating schools should be allowed to participate. The Diocesan Athletic Committee admonishes “cutting”, and encourages the participation of all students who wish to play. LEAGUE RULES AND REGULATIONS 5. Total weekly practice and game time shall not exceed a maximum of 8 hours. Any practice session shall not exceed 2 hours in length. A game shall count as 1 and 1/2 hours. The maximum number of game sessions and/or practice sessions shall not exceed 4 per week. 6. Each team will furnish their own uniforms and equipment. 7. Parents, coaches, students or relatives may not be allowed to run along with the runners at any time during the race. Runners may be disqualified if this occurs. 8. The scheduled beginnings and distances for each age group during the regular seasonwill be: 1st Race Kindergarten Boys and Girls 3/4 mile 2nd Race 1-2 Girls 3/4 mile 3rd Race 1-2 Boys 3/4 mile 4th Race 3-4 Girls 1 mile 5th Race 3-4 Boys 1 mile 6th Race 5-6 Girls 1 mile 7th Race 5-6 Boys 1 mile 8th Race 7-8 Girls 1 1/2 mile 9th Race 7-8 Boys 1 1/2 mile 9. A participant may not run in a higher division or lower diivision than his/her grade level. 10. There will be no league standings kept, league trophies given, nor post season tournaments held for grades K-6. There will be a championship meet at the end of the season. In the 7th-8th grades only, trophies will be awarded to the top 4 girls teams and top 4 boys teams. Individual trophies will also be given. All runners must run in at least 2 regular meets to be eligible for the championship meet. Each school is required to have 5 runners on the team to qualify for the team championship. Individuals may still compete for individual awards. Teams who wish to combine players from different schools must declare their intent prior to the beginning of the season. 11. Any runner or coach ejected from a meet will be suspended from the next meet. 12. There must be no more than 6 coaches oer age group anywhere on the course at one time. All coaches must wear identifying shirts. |
