LEAGUE NAME: PAROCHIAL JUNIOR FORMATIVE BASKETBALL LEAGUE    (5th-6th Grade)

BASE RULES: TSSAA - NATIONAL FEDERATION OF HIGH SCHOOL     ASSOCIATIONS

SEASON: NOVEMBER 1ST THROUGH THE LAST SATURDAY OF FEBRUARY.  PRACTICE MAY NOT BEGIN BEFORE NOVEMBER 1ST.


ELIGIBILITY

1. Team rosters must be submitted to the DAD before the first regular season game.   Failure to submit may result in forfeiture of the first game.  It may also result in suspension of the coach and forfeiture of future games.

2. It is the coach’s responsibility to control fans and/or parents during the games.

3. Each player participating in the Junior Formative League must meet eligibility  requirements set forth by the Diocesan Athletic Council.

4. The Junior Formative League will be limited to students in the 5th and 6th grades.   If a team needs additional players, they may allow 4th graders on the team.  No  children in K-3 will be eligible to participate.

Children participating in the Parochial Junior Formative League will not be eligible to participate in the Instructional League or the Senior Formative League.  They must declare before the season starts and may not transfer during the season, without approval of the DAD.

All eligible children in participating schools should be allowed to participate.  The  Diocesan Athletic Committee admonishes “cutting”, and encourages the  participation of all students who wish to play.

If a school fields more than one team, these teams must be divided equally.

LEAGUE RULES AND REGULATIONS

5. Total weekly practice and game time shall not exceed a maximum of 6 hours.   Any practice session shall not exceed 2 hours in length.  A game shall count as 1  and 1/2 hours.  The maximum number of game sessions and/or practice sessions  shall not exceed 4 per week.

6. Each team will receive 3 “full” time-outs and 2 “twenty second” time-outs per  game. A coach may call time-out.


7. The DAC will coordinate game officials for all league games.

8. Coaches and players will be ejected from the gym on the 2nd technical foul.  In  addition, any coach or player ejected will be automatically suspended for the next game.
